But.... my telephone line (whilst rented from Onetel) is physically connected to a BT exchange - I don't pretend to understand the technical details. My thought was if the wires go to a BT exchange, maybe Webwise/Phorm will still monitor me anyway. A strongly worded email to BT elicited the following (very prompt) response from BT. Thank you for your email dated October 15th regarding BT Webwise. I am very sorry for any confusion that has been caused to you over this service. I called you today, sorry I missed you. BT Webwise is currently on trial with selected BT customers only. The trial does not in anyway affect non BT customers. The cookie opt-in system at the minute is only for the use of the trial and again only for the use of BT customers. I can assure you that this current trial will not affect your broadband service in anyway. Once again I am very sorry for any confusion that has been caused to you by this trial and if I can help you with anything else please reply to me at this email address. Thank you for contacting BT.So the trials have already started, and they say the cookie system is only for the use of BT customers "AT THE MINUTE" - so what about the future?I STILL don't feel safe from Phorms spyware. So if I were you I would cancel my account immediately, and move to a Phorm free communication company. Especially given Phorm's history of conducting secret trials without the knowledge or consent of users. [ Edited Mon Oct 27 2008, 12:32PM ] Ready to leave BT?
