Has anybody got experience of http://www.bethere.co.uk?

They've got some decent LLU (own kit in exchange) based packages and they make other ISP prices look extortionate.

BE is pretty good if your line is up to it. And that's the catch - they can (and do) deliver 18Mbit/sec and up but only if your line is very, very good. Average for most users seems to be around 10 - 14 Mbit/sec with a some getting more and some getting less.

The do have a 'fair usage policy' but it seems to be fairly elastic and I've seen no evidence of any throttling or capping.

Worth investigating if you have a BT line of good quality and live in a serviced area.

Most importantly, there's no sign of Phorm there, yet.

Been with Be since June 2006 and am really happy. They have their problems, but it suits my needs. Totally unlimited without any shaping or throttling and the price is good.
They also have good forums with friendly Be*ings like myself to help out.

I can state that they don't even know what Phorm is never mind entering into any relationship with them, so unlikely they will ever go the Phorm whay (too small to be of interest to Phorm really)

Be are owned by O2 and O2 BB use the Be infrastructure
If you have an O2 phone - contract or PAYG you can get broadband quite a bit cheaper too

I've been in touch with Be recently and their member services knew nothing about Phorm but at the same time have suggested that I get in touch with their marketing department and ask them about it. Will post when I get a reply.

Thanks, it would be great if you could as I have Be under consideration as somewhere to go so I can quickly dump my present Phorm-friendly ISP.

Oddly their head of customer services had never heard of phorm, but a customer service supervisor stated that they had "no plans in the near future". I really like Be, but wonder if their parent company has been approached. Be is small but they are owned by a very large telecoms company spread over europe. It would make sense for Phorm to sign up the owner and Be by default.

The last response I had from Be was on the 1st March. The response was basically that they were "not involved or going to be involved with Phorm or the sale of our users browsing data".

Sounds good but in the same email they wrote: "But this is not under my control, because I am not a company policy maker or decision maker."

I was then also told "I will escalate your question to Sales supervisor in order to give you more detailed and concrete answer. " and that I should contact their marketing department ([email protected])

Currently I am STILL waiting for a response from either the Sales Supervisor OR their marketing department.

I have noticed a few people getting good responses from Be's member services on other forums but I have yet to experience a more concrete response myself.

I really would like to move to Be (or similar) seeing as they are "unlimited" and being capped is something I am also opposed to.

You might do better emailing O2 Marketing - parent company, same network, shared infrastructure

That's a good point, as I still have not heard anything from them I'll send an email over in the morning.

I find it really suspicious that ISPs are keeping quiet on this. it's like they're waiting to see the success or failure of BT before they announce anything. Someone in the ISP market needs grow a backbone and take a firm stand. Its clear that this is wrong, stand up and say we are not going to do this madness.
