... phrases like 'parasitic marketing' spring to mind.

BT/Virgin/TalkTalk customers - you don't need Webwise and Phorm, pure and simple.
Regulators will not protect you from Phorm. Find a Phorm Free ISP.
Protect your privacy. Protect your web content. Phorm must be stopped.

Why is it i have the feeling in me bones that phorm is in some way linked to russian mafia crime :S I cant explain it but learning of the russian link to phorm , given the attacks on several anti phorm sites from russian based ip's and given the current world affairs that cyber terrorism will be more relevant, phorm is an excellent opportunity for russia to gets its spying foot in the uk telecommunications door :(

attacks on anti-phorm sites? Can you provide any more detail (by e-mail or PM if you prefer)?

Thanks,

Jim

Yeah I second that Felix. I really didn't think about that. I suppse that if you host web servers that you 100% don't want to be analised by the Phorm system as there will be no way of telling whether the person is opt-in / out and at present there is no definative on if opting out actually stops the data from being digested anyway, the only way of making sure this doesn't happen is to block access / redirect at a domain level for any ISP that has implemented Phorm.

May I salute you Skyuser on this one. Its definately the first I have read of someone doing this. If this stance / action catches on it really would be interesting to say the least.

You might also want to block IP addresses owned by JSC Hosting Telesystems/ht-systems.ru .

JSC Hosting Telesystems (ht-systems.ru) appear to be Phorms Russian ISP, and share an office building with Phorm.

Are JSC Hosting Telesystems in anyway connected to "JSC "VolgaTelecom" Samara". Had a load of traffic from them this week.

inetnum: 88.200.252.0 - 88.200.255.255
role: Internet Center of JSC VolgaTelecom Samara branch
address: JSC "VolgaTelecom" Samara branch
address: 17, Krasnoarmeyskaya str.
address: 443099 Samara,
address: Russian Federation

hmmm. I actually missed this article (perhaps someone knows wether this article was posted/linkled on here) but again Im very suspicious about the whole russian link. Reading from another forum i saw a post stating

The Mail on Sunday reporting on Phorm in February stated that:-

"The development team for the new software was recruited from Moscow's elite Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering, a vital part of of the Cold War spying effort and still a centre for developing Russia's 'national security' computer systems."

can someone remember reading this article ? id be interested to read the whole thing. It does worry me given the current strate of the world and Russias attitude towards the rest of the world that there are alterior motives behind phorm.
