Somebody has made it to print:

idea...

Title:
Interception and Website Copyright

official response...

This idea has previously been raised with government and is already being considered through alternative channels and will therefore be responded to directly by the appropriate government department and not taken further on the Better Regulation website.

Thanks for the update.

Also, "Protect Privacy/Security/Data Integrity in Data Communications" has received the same response.

I wonder who the 'appropriate government department' is and when the responses will be sent. Maybe it has taken 22 days to find that out - no wonder we were having problems. No direct correspondence re rejection received yet.

The only other result I could find re copyright relates to video content being uploaded to youtube.

OOOoooh. That's verrry interesting.

Even more strange then that BERR should tell me they only have a single item of correspondence in that respect.

How very very very bizarre.

Are you telling me that my MP did not forward on the query I sent months back? I will have to have words.

Given this alternative channel doesn't seem to involve industry consultations, I guess yet another FoI is required to get an explanation for the decision making process that is informing the 'appropriate government department'.

The secrecy surrounding all of this is just mind blowing. Six months of silence from the Government.

How the hell do they expect to justify so much secrecy surrounding a (supposedly) private commercial enterprise?

Because 'national security' isn't a crutch they can rely on.
