This Parliamentary question concerning the failure of ISPs to provide MAC codes might interest anyone struggling to obtain a code from BT.

If BT tell you their system is "down", don't accept it.

Insist that they provide the code to you.

Ready to leave BT? Call 0800 800 030 / 0800 328 6738, get your MAC code

I did, as an ADSL reseller, have a note a week or 2 back that there was a genuine fault with the system - both for getting a MAC code and using the code to move to the new ISP - that was fixed within a few hours.
No faults reported for the last week - insider information. :)

Well, every time I called BT for a MAC they told me the system was down.

Shot themselves in the foot, in the end. If they had given me a MAC I would have moved to another ISP but kept my BT phone.

Instead the local cable company offered me a good deal on a WiMax service. So BT lost me as a broadband AND phone customer.

Phorm, just say NO!
