[ image disabled ]Firms ‘give out’ customer details I don’t know how much weight should be attached to the exact figures given, but it nicely illustrates something I’ve mentioned before: motivation. An employee in charge of running a network or server knows that, if they start looking through all the data of their employer’s customers, they’re being a nosy parker. It’s not needed to get the job done. Employees involved with ISP behavioural targeting will have different motivations. Their jobs are to extract as much information about customers as possible and use it for profit. They are much more likely to have attitudes like those people surveyed by StrongMail. If you can read all my HTTP traffic, you’re standing too close. | ||
