Some Tiscali users are noticing that Barefruit are hijacking typo errors on URLs to display adverts. The hijack is even over-writing the browser feature of completing a domain name with dot com where this has been omitted.

It suddenly becomes very important for webmasters to replace dropped pages with empty pages which direct users to the site map rather than allowing the server to display custom 4xx errors. Tough for some datafeed generated dynamic sites. Not to mention good housekeeping using custom 410 error pages.

It's quite disgusting how they're abusing the network.
