I have been with Griffin for as long as I have had ADSL - about 6 years.

Back in September last year, TalkTalk who had brought out the reseller who supplied my ADSL, canceled my package and tried to put me onto their 'free' broadband offering which came with a 12 month contract. Rejecting that offer and staying with Griffin was one of the best things I ever did.

Griffin have assured me that they will never sell their users' data to anyone, nor will they ever track users other than as is required by law. As TalkTalk could not use them as a supplier for the Webwise offering, I feel it is safe to assume that being 'Webwise free' and any other 'ad network free' will be one of their USPs well into the future.

It does cost a little more, it is a premium service aimed at business customers and homeworkers. It is unlimited.
Contention ratios are 5:1 and 10:1 depending on your package. You don't pay extra for the IP addresses. Support is on an 0870 number.

You can find out more at madslax.co.uk or direct at Griffin

Yes, those are reseller links and a temporary page while I write the site. Because I feel so strongly about helping people protect their privacy, profits for the first 4 months are being donated to the local primary school.

A also want to write a site to help people to be safe and private during their surfing. If you know of any good resources that I can link to, please let me know.

Update: Spoke to marketing about signing the anti-phr0m pledge. Response so far: "I need to see the pledge and see whether we are able to sign it, I cant see it being an issue but I need to go through the channels at this end."

Tonight I ran a speed test on my 2 Meg service. Download is 1.7 Mbps, uploand 0.2 Mbps - not bad considering that the home 8 Meg Max service only offers 0.4 Mbps upload. I am 1 km from the exchange - nearer 2 km considering that the phone line follows the road. You can view the speed test at

Ran another speed test today to compare. View at

Interesting list of winners in the other sections. Just shows how difficult it is to know if you are dealing with a supplier or reseller.
