It has a good explanation of the intercept as well. So 2 requestes = stealing my banwith that I pay for. Another reason to Hate Phorm and co.

i wonder if the bandwidth stealing as right though? surely the second request is just between the ISP servers and the target website?

if so have the ISPs just signed a deal to increase bandwidth usage on their systems with no customer to charge for it?

obviously they won't be downloading media files, just the text.. which leads to an interesting conclusion for a website..

any address that just grabs the text (excepting a few whitelisted places like the googlebot) and doesn't request the media files doesn't get the page?

______________

I rather enjoyed the comment there that 'The press release looks like the product of an over-zealous PR agency looking to ensure their monthly coverage targets were being hit.' (Their hyperlink).

The UKMisinPhormationTeam were strangely quiet on this one; too close to home perhaps?

The Team has also come in for some stick elsewhere for diving in on every negative comment about Phorm anywhere, and in particular for being a bunch of marketing droids woefully out of their depth when engaging with us geeks. (We're geeks, apparently. I prefer 'internet experts', but there you go :-) )

Anyway, all the PR teams at Phorm's disposal weren't enough, apparently, to stop Virasb Vahidi doing his James Cagney impersonation -
'Cody Jarrett: Made it, Ma! Top of the world! '
in the NYT. Was someone asleep at the switch?

So, great timing there.

Memo to Mr Vahidi: "We can see the whole of the internet from here as well. But unlike you, we are paying for our own connections, not leeching off everybody elses."

Big Brother: a programme people watch, or a program watching people?
