Hi,

While it's not a huge commercial entity, unlike it's mobile counterpart, Vodafone at Home is Phorm free - and includes all the usual things like broadband access, phone calls etc for £25/mo if you're a Vodafone mobile subscriber. Had good customer service, and the service itself is pretty stable, not had any outages in the year I've been with them.

I mailed them about Phorm and got the following reply:
"Due to the Data Protection Act I can assure you we would not pass on any of your details without your permission. We are aware of BT Retail giving their own Broadband customers to Phorm, as per the link you have included, however this does not affect BT Wholesale customers including any VAH customers."

(In my original mail, I included a link to an article on The Register describing Phorm.)

I have had a number of emails with VAH customer service and can't get a straight answer from them.

I disagree that VAH CS are any good. Whenever I have had dealings with them the first thing is they always assume I'm talking about my mobile or my mobile internet and secondly they always get confused by what I am asking them. I asked them about Phorm via the webform and they replied as follows..

"If you do not wish that any third party to contact you then please register your number with the Telephone Preference Scheme (TPS). The TPS is a Government opt-out list. Once registered, it is illegal for any marketing company to call you or send a text message for marketing purposes."

Uh ?

Several emails later I get this response...

"For further information on which company's are registered with Phorm advertising, please click here.

I'm confident that I've covered everything about if Vodafone subscribes to Phorm advertising and if there's anything else, please let me know."

The link takes you to a BBC page explaining what Phorm is.

They have explained nothing, so I have asked them straight if they pass my browsing habits to Phorm, yes or no.
Depending on their answer will determine if I email their CEO.

BTW I hate adverts, targeted or otherwise.

Gerry.
