Its been over 610 days since the CPS were asked to prosecute BT/Phorm for mass surveillance/industrial espionage crimes.

In earlier responses to FoI requests querying the extended delay prosecuting BT/Phorm... the CPS told me that, though they had no figures to offer at the time, "you may wish to note that the introduction of Complex Case Time Recording was introduced on 9 November 2009 for Special Crime Divisions (SCD). This exercise will record the time each prosecutor, caseworker and administrator spends on each case in SCD".

So I waited six months or so. Then asked them to provide me with the information captured by the Complex Case Time Recording system.

The CPS reply was due yesterday, they are now breaking the law.

Keir Starmer said last year; "The existence of a strong, effective and publicly respected prosecuting service is an absolute requirement of a fair criminal justice system based on the rule of law... My vision is of a transparent, contemporary CPS which engages in an open and honest way with the communities is serves".

So it seems the CPS can't match their leaders bold vision for transparency, accountability, openness and honesty.

They can't even comply with the law.

From the Blinkered Broadcasting Corporation ("Phorm? Never 'eard of 'em, matey")...

Gwent CPS lawyer accepted share of £20,000 bribe

Proceeding in a generally westerly direction from the great metropolis, all sorts of strange things happen once you enter the Forest of Dean. A lawyer in Gwent ("Woss Gwent then, 'Arry?" - "Summink ter do wiv Munmaff I fink, Joe") is likely to have been put under some sort of spell by the Wicked Witch of Cinderford ("Hi, aunt Gwen!"), so this isn't at all relevant to Phorm, because that sort of thing wouldn't happen in London, would it?
;)
