So we ask the ICO about Detica then? They'll love that. Best of luck!
I'm still waiting for a reply to my ACPO letter asking for advice about how to report interception of internet communications to local police, but I'll be gracious as it has been the holiday season.

To give the EU their due I think they are in the same boat as ourselves at the moment. Until VM actually do something there is not much to be done. All we can do is inform the authorities that IF this goes ahead they will be on the receiving end of a snowstorm of complaints.
With the comments we have from the Home Office on police responsiblity for RIPA (criminal not civil offences they said ) along with the EU statements and the threat of the European Court looming, maybe we have a chance to pile on the pressure. The EU are watching us watching the government and we need to give them all the ammunition they need to prosecute the case against this corrupt government.

Wow. Good stuff!

I'm presently trying to find out from Cleveland Police why they are telling people who complain about Virgin/Detica's interception of their communications, that offences under Part I RIPA are a 'civil' rather than 'criminal' offence.(They are a criminal offence with a prison sentence of two years).
